2010 Free Concerts

Lewis County Community Band – Free Concert
Tues. 11/23/2010, 7:30 pm, Corbet Theatre, Free admission

Come hear this band and have an enjoyable evening of music.  Our program theme is:  Esprit – Liveliness of Mind and Spirit.  The music will be selected from:  Esprit De Corps by Robert Jager, Blue Tango by Leroy Anderson, Woodwind Polka, Over the Hills and Far Away by Percy Grainger, Variation Overture by Clifton Williams, Palladio by Karl Jenkins, A Friend Remembered by James Swearingen, and Military Escort by David Gillingham.

The Lewis County Community Band, conducted by Louie Blaser and Karl Scarborough, is made up of 45 instrumentalists playing flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and a variety of percussion.

Pacific Northwest Chamber Orchestra – Free Concert

Come join us for a free orchestral concert designed to please the entire family with seasonal favorites, including an audience sing along of holiday songs.  Our Instrument Petting Zoo will be open in the Corbet Theatre foyer during intermission.  Music 6000 of Olympia is supplying instruments for our young audience members to try out and our orchestra members will assist at the various stations.

The program will include: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, first movement by W.A. Mozart, Selections from the “Nutcracker Ballet” by P.I. Tschaikowsky, Away in a Manger featuring guitar and flute, March of the Toys from “Babes in Toyland”, Holiday Favorites an audience sing along, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Centralia College Jazz Band – Free Concert
Fri. 12/3/2010, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm, Great Wolf Lodge Grand Lobby, 20500 Old Highway 99, Grand Mound

Come grab a bite to eat in one of the eateries at the Great Wolf Lodge and enjoy a variety of jazz performed by the Centralia College Jazz Band.  We will be performing in the Grand Lobby which is within easy viewing, and listening, of the various places to eat at the Great Wolf Lodge Dining Room.  Enjoy comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere while listening to tunes such as Caravan, Blue Note Special, Now What, and Four.

The Great Wolf Lodge will have a Santa nearby who will be available to chat with children.

Centralia College Choir – Free concert

A free will offering will be collected and given to the Lewis County Food Bank.

Our concert will feature seasonal choral favorites in an elegant concert setting.  Centralia College Music Major, Angela Chrisman, will join us on several numbers with her cello.  In addition there will be solos by the following Centralia College students:  Kristina Knutson, Patrick Handley, Abbey Potter, Ruth Newkirk, and Enoch Newkirk.

Music will include: A Charlie Brown Christmas by Vince Guaraldi, We Sing Feliz Navidad, The Little Drummer Boy with Peace on Earth, Various Themes on “Fa-La-La” arranged by Chuck Bridwell, Coventry Carol, Sing We Now of Christmas, Angels We Have Heard on High, Silent Night, Joy to the World, O Holy Night with Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, The Time of Snow by Bob Chilcott, and What Sweeter Music by John Rutter.
